Here's something I secretly love about children's books - you don't always know about the author behind the book. Sure, you may know their name - in my case, I can (usually) tell you exactly where to find it at the Library. Alphabetical and all that jazz. But until you read an article like the one linked to below, you may not know something truly interesting about the author - in this case, the author behind the amazingly popular "Dork Diaries" series is actually an African-American woman who chose to make her main character white.
